FAQ

Do I need to have a pottery background?

No! You do not need a pottery background to take your first class. Avigayil is a skilled teacher, who will explain pottery to you step-by-step. To ensure the personalized learning experience that you may need, classes are capped at six people, so you will get the attention that you need. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your skills, classes are tailored to empower people of all backgrounds and skill levels.

How long does it take?

The time it takes to create a piece, from start to finish, can be broken out into three distinct classes.

Class 1: Throwing on the wheel and hand building are the first stage. The clay is wet at this stage.

Class 2: Trimming is the second step, and you will trim the piece that you threw during Class 1. Trimming involves shaping the piece to the precise shape that you envision.

Class 3: Between Class 2 and Class 3, a studio worker will have fired your piece in the kiln. This means that it is dry and ready to be painted/glazed during Class 3. After Class 3, the glazed piece will be fired again, so that it is completely finished and ready to use!

What you need to know:

Classes will include step-by-step instructions, all the tools you need, glaze colors, and firing.
